(CaseApp) Phone Case and Laptop Skin Review

Finding your ideal phone/laptop case can be a mission and a half, especially if you're like me and always have a very particular design or pattern in mind. When it comes to accessorising my gadgets, I want something that really encapsulates my own unique style and taste. I think you can tell a lot about a person from the exterior of their device which is why the concept of customisation really appeals to me. Luckily for me, I discovered online store CaseApp, a company which also believes in the customisation of your phone/laptop to reflect yourself and personality. I want to say a big thank you to CaseApp for allowing my to try out their products. I picked out one of their pre-made laptop skins as well as an iPhone 7 case that I personalised. Here are what they look like! 

I'm really happy with how my custom iPhone case turned out! I decided to go with glossy over matte and really like the overall finish of this case. Initially, I was afraid the plastic might crack as I was attaching the case to my phone. This was because I wasn't used to such a rigid material. My previous cases have been made of a much more flimsier plastic. This was definitely a misconception on my part because it secured to my phone perfectly fine. It seems to be a very durable covering and I definitely feel reassured that my phone will be protected. 

For my laptop skin, I decided I wouldn't tamper with the design. I really liked the minimalistic pattern as it was. It was very easy to apply and I had no problems with positioning the sticker. I love the way it looks! It doesn't function as a case however if you want to add a little bit of interest to your laptop, laptop skins are the way to go. 

To conclude this review, I'd just like to mention how impressed I was with the efficient shipping. I'm not actually based in the UK therefore I wasn't expecting my products to arrive in the time that they did. My envelope came before the estimated shipping date which I thought was very good service! Overall, I've thoroughly enjoyed working with CaseApp. Not only are their products very good quality but the entire process from choosing your case to receiving it, is very fast and easy.

Starting University

Three weeks ago, I officially started Uni. I was planning on writing this post after my first week of classes but since I was feeling a little uncertain about things, thought I'd give myself a few more weeks to find my feet. For just a little bit of context, I'm staying at home for my first year, studying at a design school in the city and hoping to major in graphic design. I'm really enjoying my classes and the work involved however this is only a newfound feeling. When I first started out, I didn't feel the least bit optimistic about design school. In fact, I even doubted whether Uni was right for me. 

Looking back I think that had to do with the fact that I felt quite alone during that first week of classes. Going into Uni, I didn't really know anyone. All my high school friends had either moved away or taken a year off to work or study abroad. I'm really happy with the institute that I'm at but during that first week of classes, I felt so out of place. After spending five years at high school, I was so used to getting assignments where the teachers were very clear on what they wanted and how they wanted it. I was used to being surrounded by the same group of people six hours a day, five days a week. Uni is very different. I expected this much but that doesn't mean that it still didn't throw me off a little bit. There's so much freedom and artistic license at design school. You're encouraged to interpret the assessments in your own unique way. As well as this, getting fully accustomed with every person in your class is almost impossible. There are so many people and when you're only seeing them once or twice a week, that doesn't leave much time to properly get to know them. Everything was just so overwhelmingly unfamiliar and the fact that I didn't know anyone prior to starting Uni made me feel even more lost and confused. I now know that many of my fellow classmates were in a similar situation to me however during those first few days where I had little to no interaction with anyone, it felt like I was the only one feeling this way. 

Three weeks in, I'd say I'm in a much more positive headspace now. I know the hardest part of the transition from high school to uni is over and I've begun to look forward to the rest of year and what's to come. I almost feel silly for ever thinking I was alone in feeling alone. I've been able to connect with a couple of people from my classes and instead of focusing on getting to know everyone, I'm going to work on getting to know a few people really well instead. How to Manage Multiple Social Media Platforms

When it comes to blogging, platforms such as Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest play such an important part in bringing readers to your site. Social media can really do wonders for your blog however maintaining several accounts at once is no easy feat. If you struggle with managing and being active on multiple platforms here are some tips to hopefully point you in the right direction!  

Keep on Top of Notifications
When notifications are left unattended, they can really begin to clog up your device. The trouble with this build up is that you're more likely to find yourself out of the loop. When you have an overwhelming amount of notifications to go through, it's understandable to want to skim through them quickly. However this means you're more likely to dismiss something you actually have a strong interest in. Make sure to keep an eye on the comments, messages and follows as you receive them. If they're easy to check off then don't hesitate to do so. When you constantly have notifications coming through, it definitely helps to get as many out of the way when you can. 

Have Daily Goals
At the start of each day, tell yourself what you hope to achieve on each platform. It could be joining a blogger chat on Twitter, starting a new board on Pinterest or commenting on five people's photos on Instagram. If you find you're putting certain platforms over others, give yourself reasons to tend to those accounts you're less loyal to. It's all about finding that balance and having a task for each social media site will really help motivate you to evenly spread your time across all accounts. 

Track When You Post
It's a good idea to make note of when you post online. Use a planner or diary to mark when you've shared on a certain platform. That way, you'll be able to see which sites you need to engage with more. It's easy to forget when you last posted on an account so it definitely pays to have some kind of record to refer to when this happens. A big part of engaging on social media is having a consistent posting schedule. Regular tweets, pins and shares are essential in order to connect and interact with your followers. Use your planner/diary to establish a good posting schedule. It'll really benefit you in the long run.

My 4 Tips For Starting a Bullet Journal

At the beginning of this year I decided to take the plunge and start my first proper bullet journal. Last year, I had an unofficial bullet journal where I trialled different spreads and layouts. During this time I was able to get to grips with the system and wrap my head around this new form of planning. I don't have a lot of experience on my side but in the process of starting up, I did pick up on a couple things that I thought would still be good to share. Here are 4 things that helped me when starting my bullet journal. 

1. Research Before Purchasing Anything
When it comes to finding your ideal supplies, I recommend watching comparison videos on Youtube. You'll not only see the stationery being tested side by side but also get a better sense for the wide variety of notebooks and pens on market. Try not to get too caught up in what everyone else in using. Establish what you're hoping to get out of your bullet journal as this will help make sure you're investing in the right products for you. 

2. Play Around With Different Equipment
It's commonly said that all you need to bullet journal is a notebook and a pen but that doesn't go to say that you can't incorporate other creative supplies into your planner. Washi tape, stickers, stamps and stencils can also be used in bullet journalling. Be creative and don't be afraid to experiment with different methods and techniques. The more enjoyable you make your bullet journalling, the more likely you'll commit to it. 

3. Get Inspired Regularly 
Pinterest and Instagram are treasure troves of bullet journalling inspiration. Whenever you feel like you're starting to lose momentum with your planning, scroll through BuJo accounts on social media. If you're bored of your current set up, look for new collections to add or different layouts for your weekly spreads. Sometimes it helps to change things up a bit so don't feel like your journal has to have a consistent theme/aesthetic.

4. Have a Draft Book
Whenever you're planning it's always good to have some scrap paper close by so that you can make any rough sketches if need be. A draft book allows you to test different handwriting styles, headers, borders and other types of doodles. If you see something online but don't know if you'll be able to execute it correctly, you can just give it a go in your second notebook. That way, if it doesn't look the way you want it to, there's still no harm done to your actual journal.

1. What are some songs you have on repeat?
I've been playing my Kpop playlist constantly! Rather than playing a couple of songs on repeat, I just go through the entire playlist from start to finish. 

2. What do you do when you feel down in the dumps?
Whenever I'm feeling a little under the weather, I like to treat myself to a relaxing evening. I'll take a nice warm bubble bath, get into my comfiest pjs then watch my favourite movie in bed. 

3. What can you not live without?
At the moment, it's probably my phone. I'm on holiday at the moment so it's helping me keep in touch with the people back home. 

4. Who is your hero?
My parents are my heroes. They've done so much for my brothers and I. I look up to them both so much. 

5. What is a book you would read over and over again? 
Any Agatha Christie book. Every time I re-read one of her mysteries, I always pick up on something I missed in a previous reading.  

6. What do you aspire to do in the future?
I really want to work in advertising. My dream is to see one of my designs on a bus stop or billboard. That would honestly be amazing! 

7. What do you do on your down time?
Read, blog and scroll through social media. 

8. How do you stay focused?
My bullet journal. I like to track my goals and daily productivity in this book. Recording my progress helps me keep motivated.

9. How do you stay organised? 
Writing lists. This has a similar concept to the above answer. When it comes to completing my tasks/chores, writing them out makes all the difference. 


10. What are you passionate about?
Anything to do with memory keeping. Taking photos, collecting keepsakes and journalling are all things I feel very passionate towards.

Zaha Hadid. Her buildings are incredible! I've been really into architecture recently and her work is, by far, my favourite!

My Blog Photography Tips

I love photography but am by no means a photography expert. The reason I decided to write this post is because I feel like my confidence behind the camera has grown so much from when I first started blogging to now. In today's post, I'm sharing my four personal tips for blog photography. Here are the things I've learnt through taking my blog photos. 

1. Use Less Props
Personally, I find less props a lot more manageable to shoot. Especially in terms of composition. Before I even get my camera out I tend to shuffle the props around quite a bit so having less items in the picture means I can be more flexible with my arrangement. If you're like me and are very particular about the layout of a photo, I think it's a good idea to limit yourself to five or six props per frame so you're not wasting time moving a dozen or so items every time you change your mind about a composition. 

2. Take Multiple Shots From Different Angles
Once I've created a prop layout that I'm happy with, I'll photograph it multiple times, adjusting my camera positioning after each shot. Experiment with different angles by constantly moving around your set up. That way, you're not limiting your photos to one reoccurring perspective  Flat lays are known for being a blogger's go-to photograph but that doesn't mean you can't play around with other kind of camera shots as well.  

3. Photograph Near a Window
Windows are your best friend when it comes to photographing indoors. There's a spot in the house living room that I find myself constantly going back. It gets just the right amount of natural sunlight. When it's hot summer's day, I like to photograph in the late afternoon so the light isn't so intense however if it's cooler outside then I'm more likely to photograph mid day. When it comes to natural lighting, you have to be adaptable. It may not be as predictable as other kind of lighting however it will provide you the best results in the end. 

4. Find Your Ideal Editing Program
When it comes to editing my photos, I like to use Adobe Lightroom to brighten my images and then canva.com to crop them to size. There are an abundance of photo editing apps and websites out there, it shouldn't be too hard finding one that accustoms to your photography needs. If you're not happy with your current editing process, don't be afraid to change it up a bit. You want to find an editing program that is compatible with you and your photography style so if something isn't quite working for you, it may be a good idea to try something new.

My 2018 New Year's Resolutions

Happy New Year! I know it's nearly a week in but I really wanted my first post of 2018 to start the year off right. So I decided on a resolution post! I love the idea of goal setting, especially at the start of a fresh set of 12 months. There's always so much hype around the New Year and I feel like that's what makes these kind of resolutions so special. Amongst the fireworks and the much anticipated countdown, resolutions are just another tradition that make the New Year the celebration that it is. Here are my resolutions for 2018! Let me know if you have any similar! 

1. Drink More Water Throughout The Day
I'm terrible at this. I think the recommended amount is eight glasses a day. I struggle to get through two. I'm trying to keep more hydrated by making sure I have my water bottle with me for every meal but it's definitely something I have to try really hard to remember to do. Water is so important and I know that if I start drinking more daily, I'd really benefit from it.  

2. Get my Restricted Licence
Last year, I went for my restricted twice and didn't pass both. I was so disheartened the second time, I put off driving for weeks after. When I finally got back on the road, I felt like I was just starting out again. I suddenly had that same fear I felt when first learning to drive. Since I've managed to overcome that, I'm intent on getting my restricted sometime this year. I'm also hoping to get a couple of lessons so I can really refine my driving ability. 

3. Commit to my Bullet Journal
At the end of 2017, I bought a Leuchtturm1917 journal and since the first of this month, I've been using it constantly. This is my first proper bullet journal and while I'm very invested in it at this moment in time, I'm worried I'll lose some of that consistency later on. My aim for the end of this year is to have a full and thorough journal to look back on 2018 with. 

4. Learn How to Cook
I'm ashamed to say it, but I've never cooked a proper meal before. Which also means that I don't know how to cook. I've helped my Mum in the kitchen but I've never actually conjured something up myself. Most people my age have already mastered this skill therefore I'm determined to perfect a couple of recipes by the end of this year. 

5. Time Manage my Blog Posts Better
I've never used the schedule tool on Blogger because I've never written a post in advance. I always write my posts the day of or the day before publishing. The same goes with taking my photos. I really want to be more organised with my posts so I'm not so pressed for time at the end of every week. 

6. Be More Active on Social Media
Since starting my blog I've chatted to so many different bloggers. And it's all thanks to social media. In saying this though, I still don't think I take complete advantage of this online connectivity and I go through periods of completely neglecting these social accounts. I really want to be more consistent with my shares and posts and make more of an effort to be present online.
