My bedroom is my absolute pride and joy. When I was away on my student exchange, I missed my family, my friends and last but not least, my room. I've done a room tour post on my blog for 2018 and 2019 and they're both two of my most popular posts to date. Honestly, not much has changed over the years but it's like a game of spot the difference. From a distance, the photos look pretty similar but then you take a closer look and all the finer alterations are revealed. I like to shuffle things around on a regular basis - it's a little bit of a hobby of mine! - so it's not surprising things aren't where they were in previous years.

I made sure to take these photos on a day where the sun was shining. Unfortunately I only have natural light for a couple hours a day just because of where my room is in relation to the rest of the house. My window doesn't have the prettiest of views but a couple of years ago, I painted a couple of leafy branches on the wall just to give it a little bit of life.

The black jewellery tree you see above is something I fished out of my drawers a couple of weeks ago. For some reason, I didn't think it fit the aesthetic of my room so I hid it away. I brought it out again and it's now one of my favourite items. I hung all my dangly earrings on it and am so happy with how it looks!

My desk space is probably my favourite spot in my entire room. It's become my ideal place for productivity and getting stuff done. I also think it's the area that undergoes the most changes whenever I'm doing one of my room revamps. Also how cute are the three pigs on my top shelf?! My dad got them for me last year as a farewell present before my exchange and I absolutely adore them!

As much as I love tidying my room, I know many consider it the biggest of chores.

I'm sure there was a time in my life when I didn't love making my bed or organising my desk but I honestly don't recall it. I feel like packing up after myself and making things look presentable are two rules that have been engrained in me from a very young age. My mum definitely played a massive role in this. She's the most organised person I know and I think over time, her tidiness just started to rub off on me.

If you're someone that finds cleaning their room a mission and a half (and honestly, it's okay if you do!), this post is just for you. Here are four ways to make tidying your room fun!

Incorporate a Theme
A couple of weeks ago, I was cleaning my room and decided I wanted to change the colour scheme. It used to be all about the pastels, now I've narrowed it down to three main colours; pink, grey and white. I think it's important to give your room personality. Your theme doesn't necessarily have to revolve around colour, it could showcase a specific season or holiday, your favourite TV show or a hobby you really enjoy. Your room is a space meant just for you. Don't be afraid to put your own creative spin on it!

Do it With a Friend
Having a friend by your side makes everything 10 times better. Rather than dreading the tidying process, turn it into an excuse to hang with your bestie. I've done this before with a couple of my friends. It's great because after a while it stops feeling like a cleaning job and more like a normal hang out. Don't forget to play some tunes while you're at it. It really helps to keep the mood upbeat.

Reorganise Decor
If you're tidying your space, definitely use it as a chance to shuffle things around. Tidying doesn't just have to be about putting things back where they belong. You can make it a lot more interesting by rearranging your room decor. I do this all the time. I look at what I have on display and then I like to place it somewhere new to see if it looks better or worse. Reorganising things should help keep you on your toes and stop you from losing interest in the actual cleaning.

Take a Before And After Picture
I always forget to do this with my room but I've done it with a couple of other things I've tidied. It's nice to have a visual representation of your progress. It also gives you an incentive to clean that little bit harder. The more dramatic the change is between the two photos, the more accomplished you should feel.

I absolutely loved my Room Tour 2018 post and it seemed a lot of you guys liked it too!

I was planning on doing a 2019 version the moment the new year rolled around but I thought I'd wait until around the same time I published my first one so that that there was more of a one year gap between them.

I've been comparing the photos and I can't say the changes are drastic but it's still interesting to see what's moved and what hasn't. Another thing you'll notice - if you saw my first Room Tour - is that I'm actually showing my closet space in this post. It was a complete mess last year but this year I decided to pull my act together and make it look super clean and presentable for these photos. I colour coordinated my clothes and I must admit, it makes me a lot happier to open my closet doors every morning.

My photo wall is a new feature of my room. These are actually the photos I got from Printiki a couple months back. I have some of my favourite childhood photos up there as well as photos with family and friends.

In my last post, I briefly mentioned my obsession with pigs. I don't have a lot of pig themed room decor items but I do have a couple that you might spot in these photos!

I've been doing quite a bit of reading this year. I completed Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine (which I got myself for Christmas) and I recently finished the Crazy Rich Asians series which I devoured in just over a week.

As strange as this may sound, I actually really enjoy tidying my room. I find it almost therapeutic. It not only puts me in a positive headspace for the rest of the day but the end result is always so worthwhile. Once or twice a month, I like to do a thorough tidy of my bedroom space. In today's post I thought I'd share what this process involves. Here's how I like to clean my bedroom.

Change The Sheets And Make The Bed
When it comes to cleaning my room, this step is a must. There's something really revitalising about new sheets. They just make my room feel instantly fresher. I like to make my bed every morning, just to start the day off right, however it's usually only a quick straightening of the covers and plumping of the pillows. When I have one of my major cleans, I like to set it up as though it's part of a store showroom. I'll arrange the throw pillows nicely and drape a fluffy blanket off one corner. I know that it can only look this way temporarily, but I find the whole process really enjoyable so I don't mind as much.

Wipe Down Any Surfaces
The next thing I like to do is take a dry cloth and dust off all the hard surfaces in my room. This includes my desk, windowsill, bedside table and vanity. There are certain corners and hideaways, like at the back of my drawers and shelves that are quite dust prone which is why I not only have to wipe down the visible surfaces but the less noticeable ones as well. Sometimes there are areas you wouldn't expect to collect dust but upon further inspection, are in fact need of a clean. For example, the row of books of my shelf, the tops of them tend to get quite dusty. Also the lids of my candles usually require a good wipe down. The last things I'll use the cloth for are my windows and vanity mirror. I'll also bring out the spray bottle for this part.

Organise my Wardrobe
Out of my entire room, my wardrobe is probably the area I find hardest to keep tidy. Alongside my clothes and shoes, it's also where I keep random things like my Christmas room decor and my old exercise books from my primary school days. I like to keep my wardrobe door closed throughout the day just because I find it really detracts from the rest of the room. I know there's that concept of "out of sight, out of mind" but I always find myself coming back to this space whenever I do a big clean up. I won't necessarily remove anything, I'll just shuffle things around in attempt to make the space look neater somehow. I have yet to discover my perfect arrangement. This is probably why it's still a step in my bedroom cleaning process.

Vacuum And Mop The Floor
My bedroom has wooden floorboards which I find quite hard to maintain at times. Cleaning the floor in my bedroom is a two step process. First I'll vacuum to get rid of any surface dust lying around, then I'll use the mop to remove any residue that may be left and get into all the tight spots the vacuum can't reach. I always save this step for last because the mopping requires drying time.

Hi everyone! Sometime last year, I did some brainstorming of blog post ideas and at the top of that list I'd written "My Room Tour", clear and bold. I've been wanting to do a room tour for quite some time now and since I'm pretty happy with my layout at the moment, I thought this week would be the perfect time to share one! I reorganise my room a lot and I'm always shuffling things around but the one thing I pride myself in constantly maintaining is the pastel colour scheme. You'll definitely recognise a theme in these photos. I'm so excited to be finally doing this post! I call my blog my happy place but my bedroom is, without a doubt, close second!
