I've always considered myself an introvert. It's definitely not unusual for me to feel a little out of place at big social events/gatherings. I tend to keep to myself in large groups, need to step away from the crowd from time to time and take a little while to warm up around new people. Over the past few years I've been able to come out of my shell quite a bit however I still have my introverted preferences. I definitely feel more comfortable talking one-one-one than with a group of about 5 or 6 and when having a conversation with someone I've just met, like to ask questions instead of sharing stories about myself. In today's post, I'm sharing with you 4 tips for introverts. If you find socialising a bit tricky at times, hopefully this post will be useful in some way.

1. Fake it Til You Make it
If you find yourself in a social situation where you don't know anyone, try not to let your discomfort show. If you're not quite ready to approach someone, make yourself look as friendly as possible. People are more likely to come up to someone who is smiling and looking around rather than someone who is frowning and staring at their feet. Stand tall and proud even if you're shaking inside. You'll have company in no time.

2. Seek Advice
It's okay to ask for help from family and friends. If you struggle in certain social situations, don't be afraid to ask those who are more comfortable talkers/socialisers for advice. You don't have to change your personality completely, but if you're wanting to build on your social skills, it may help to get some tips and strategies from a person who is of the extroverted type. Talk to those who encourage you to meet new people and open yourself up to others but don't let them turn you into someone you're not. Introverts and extroverts are two different personality types and there is nothing is wrong with either of them so don't feel bad if you can't keep up with what they're telling you to do.

3. Practice Makes Perfect
For quite some time, I really struggled with small talk and making conversation. Every time I went to speak with someone, I almost rehearsed the conversation in my mind, making sure I was completely prepared to say what I wanted to say. This was the only way I felt safe starting a conversation with someone and even though this probably wasn't best way to interact with people, it definitely helped me to develop this skill. Nowadays, I'm able to make small talk more naturally and I feel like I definitely have the practice I put into this skill to thank for that. Just put yourself out there. Even if you don't start off doing it in the right way, don't worry because you'll get there in the end.

4. Start By Talking About Them
My favourite way to start a conversation is with a compliment. If you like their jacket or their shoes or their earrings, tell them! This is a great conversation starter in terms of leading on to questions and personal stories. If you ask them where they got something from, it's highly likely you'll be able to continue the conversation from their response. If you're not very good at talking about yourself, make the conversation about them. Listen and ask questions. They're bound to appreciate your strong engagement and focus.

Whenever I find myself in a shopping mall, I always gravitate towards the stationery shops. I can't help it! I love stationery too much! I've been obsessed with bullet journalling lately so I thought I could use my newfound hobby as an excuse to buy more stationery. I hope you enjoy this mini haul. Let me know if you'd like to see more bullet journalling posts in the future!

The first thing I bought was this pack of washi tape. The tropical, island theme was prominent throughout. I love the range of widths and the vibrant designs. There was also gold foiling on several of the tapes making them even more appealing to me. I couldn't resist buying these!

The next thing I picked up were these stickers. I love the pastel colours in the first pack. Not only are the graphics really cute, but the little quotes and phrases are really sweet also. I really like the holographic letters from the second pack and will probably use these to decorate the front of my journal.

The last thing I got were these pens. I did my research on the best writing tools for bullet journalling and selected the ones I believed would work best for me. I got a pack of Crayola super tips, a Tombow Fudenosuke soft tip, a Muji black pen (0.38 tip) and a Uni Pin Fine Line black pen (0.3). I've been really interested in calligraphy and hand lettering lately and know that I definitely make good use out of these pens.

What did you think of this haul? Let me know down below! Thanks for reading!

If you were to ask me what I saw myself doing this time next year, I wouldn't have a clue. I'm leaving high school in a few months time and instead of having a better sense of where I want to go, I feel as lost as ever. My initial plan was to take 12 months off and allow myself time away from the classroom but upon further reflection I realised just how hard it'd probably be for me to return to school after a break that long. When I wrote my post explaining why I was so keen on taking a gap year, I wasn't really thinking ahead. I thought a lot about the break itself without really considering where I would go once the year was over. I'm scared that after I finish my gap year, I won't have the motivation/drive to get back into studying. And since I know I want to go to Uni and experience the student life there, I don't know if it's worth the delay.

Next year feels like its approaching too fast, too soon and I don't know how I'm supposed to make all these life-changing choices in such a short space of time. It feels like so much is riding on each decision from here on out which makes everything to do with next year much more daunting. Now that I've decided I do want to go to Uni in 2018 and I have some idea of what I want to study, I have to figure out whether or not I want to stay or leave my home city. This is something that I'm constantly turning over in my mind. I love where I live yet know that I can probably afford to lose some of the reliance that I have on my parents. While studying, you're guaranteed to save quite a bit of money while staying at home. On the other hand, you're guaranteed to gain a stronger independence in a new place surrounded by new people. It's choices like these that are getting me worked up about next year and when I'm neutral about both options, I almost wish that someone would come up to me and tell me what I needed to do right then and there.

That's definitely not the way to go though. No matter what I'm feeling now, I want it to be me who decides how next year pans out, not someone else. It is up to me what happens next, and as scary as that sounds, I know that I'll make it work one way or another.

How did you/do you feel about leaving high school? Let me know down below!

Having a good night's rest is so important and puts you in the best possible position for the next day. Lately, my sleeping schedule has been a bit off and I feel like I haven't had a decent night's sleep in ages. I'm either taking forever to drift off or am waking up abnormally early. Either way, I'm getting very little sleep. If you can relate and feel unsatisfied with the amount of hours you've been sleeping recently, hopefully these tips will be useful in some way.

Stretch Before Bed
Try fitting some gentle stretching into your night time routine. This will hopefully loosen any tenseness in the body and help you get into a relaxed state of mind. Avoid vigorous exercise as this tends to boost your energy levels, making it harder for you to fall asleep. Light exercise is better in terms of preparing your mind and body for bed and will definitely help to relieve some of that daytime stress for a restful sleep.

Listen To Music
Plugging in your earphones and listening to some relaxing music is a really good way to make yourself feel more sleepy. You could either use it to wind down before bed or have it as background noise while you fall asleep. If you're someone who tends to overthink at night, the music may be a nice way to distract yourself from your thoughts.

Minimise Light
Rather than turning on the main light in your bedroom, use a bedside lamp or other smaller light source instead. If it provides a softer glow, it will be less likely to trick your mind into thinking it's daytime. For example, if you like to read before bed, use a book light instead of the ceiling light. Reading before bed is a really good habit to get in to however using the main light tends to make this calming activity a lot less effective. By limiting your exposure to light, you're sure to fall asleep a lot quicker/easier.

Switch Off Electronics
Disconnect from your devices at least an hour before you go to bed. If you know you'll be tempted by the notification bells and social media alerts, try switching your phone to silent mode or turning it off completely. As I mentioned before, you want to have very little contact with light as you're preparing for bed. The glow from your laptop or mobile screen is no different from any other light source in your bedroom.

Check Quality of Mattress/Pillows
Comfortability plays a huge part in how well you sleep at night. If you find you're moving around a lot in your sleep, this may be the result of a worn mattress or unsupportive pillows. Mattresses have been said to last around 9-10 years so make sure yours hasn't exceeded this as this may be the root cause of your sleeping problem. Also, get pillows that are neither too hard nor too soft. You want your head to be propped up slightly but not an angle that strains your neck.

What's your favourite way to wind down at night?

In the world today, handwritten letters are being replaced with emails, texts and messaging on social media. Everything is done with the click of a button or a tap on the screen. Messages are instant, quick to send and quick to receive. No envelopes or postage stamps necessary. While I'm definitely thankful for the online connection I have with overseas family and friends, I still think there's nothing quite as special as paper mail. And that's exactly what Melbourne-based Graceful Avenue believe too. Through their wide range of stationery, they hope to inspire their customers to feed a loved one's mailbox. This month, I was lucky enough to receive their final stationery kit for their monthly subscription box, Mishka Mail and today I'll be sharing with you the lovely assortment of items I found inside.

The theme for the July parcel was "Eternally Grateful" and came with....

2 Greeting Cards
These card illustrations are simple and sweet and feature two of the Mishka Mail mascots. Both cards have a matte finish and come with a plain white envelope that can be customised to your liking.

4 Stickers

These stickers are unique, colourful and guaranteed to add more character/personality to your cards and envelopes. All four stickers have a glossy finish.

4 Gift Tags

These gift tags have cute, heart-warming illustrations that are sure to bring a smile to your recipient's face. They're made from thick card and are therefore very sturdy and durable.

2 Postcards

These postcards have such fun and creative designs that would be sure to brighten any person's day. The printed images are high quality with a glossy finish.

1 Wall Print

This print has a nice illustration with an equally nice message to go alongside it. Because of its simplicity, it's sure to suit any minimalistic room/space. The size of the card is A5.

2 "Mini Collection" Cards

These pocket sized cards are adorable and would accompany any small gift perfectly. Like the two greeting cards, these mini cards have a matte finish and come with envelopes.

1 Bonus Mishka Magnet

This magnet can act as a header for all the little tasks and responsibilities you have to remember to do. It is both functional and eye catching, making it the ideal addition to any fridge/whiteboard.

Overall, I am obsessed with the animal illustrations and the variety of colours that were used throughout. With this stationery, I feel really excited to send more mail overseas. And I guess that's the aim of these kits. If you like bright colours, cute characters and feel passionately about snail mail, then I'd highly recommend you give the Mishka Mail kits a go!

Even though Graceful Avenue has completed the Mishka Mail 12 month subscription box, they are still up for sale on their online site http://mishkamail.com.au. Just note that these can only be purchased by July 31st. Coming in August, Graceful Avenue will be releasing "Cute Parcels", similar to Mishka Mail but with a lower price point and less inclusions. Check out their site for more info on past kits, new kits, international shipping and more.

Thanks so much for reading! What's your favourite item from the July set?

In life, everybody has their share of good days and not-so-good days. Today's post is all about the latter. Personally, I don't think I handle my bad days as well as I should. If my day starts off on the wrong foot, it leaves a bad taste in my mouth from that moment on. Suddenly I'm expecting everything else to go wrong and because I'm in that mindset, the day is unsurprisingly full of slip-ups. That's how powerful your thoughts are. I need to stop letting one negative experience overrule the rest of my day. Just because a day starts off unlucky, doesn't mean it has to end that way.

1. Acknowledge Your Emotions
When you're upset, you tend to brush your feelings aside. You try to suppress the embarrassment, frustration, betrayal or disappointment and in doing so, allow the feeling to have a lasting effect. Sometimes shedding some tears makes all the difference. Instead of letting the emotion linger inside, cry it out.

2. Connect With Others
Socialising and getting together with friends is the perfect distraction for a bad day. You can always count on those closest to you to know how to make you smile. If something is still bothering you and you can't seem to shake it from your conscious then I'm sure the group wouldn't mind if you shared it. Everybody needs to vent every once in a while.

3. Try Being Productive
Tackle the chores and responsibilities you've been avoiding for quite some time, such as tidying your room or cleaning your wardrobe. By getting things done, you'll be able to take your mind away from your worries as well as work towards the most rewarding outcome possible.

4. Get Active
Exercise is really important, especially if you're not in the best state of mind. Keep it fast paced so that you can refrain from dwelling too much on negative thoughts. By the end of the workout you should feel refreshed and ready to take on the rest of the day.

5. Do Something Nice
If you're really feeling down, doing a good deed for someone else is sure to lift your spirits. It may not magic all your problems away, but it will definitely leave you feeling more accomplished than you did before.

6. Relax
Take some time out of your day to stress-relieve. Sit down and watch a film or run yourself a bubble bath. Adding a little bit of relaxation into your day is sure to boost your mood and just because your day hasn't been going to plan, doesn't mean you're undeserving of the treatment.

I hope you found this post useful. If you think that a bad day is a bad day and nothing can change that, think again. Sometimes breaking out of that mindset is all you need to turn your not-so-good day around.

When you're young, it's your likes that determine what you want to be when you're older. If you enjoy being around animals, you want to be a vet. If you like food and baking, you want to be a chef. For me, I loved painting and because of this, I wanted nothing more than to spend my adult years in front of a easel, exercising my imagination with a brush and canvas. As you get older your mindset towards jobs definitely changes. Instead of focusing purely on interest, I began to take other factors into account such as income and pay, the chances of getting the career, and the length of training required for the role. What I liked and most enjoyed kept getting pushed further and further to the back of my mind, becoming less and less of a priority. Instead of thinking about what I wanted to pursue, I kept thinking about what I had to pursue in order to live a somewhat comfortable life.

As I grew up, I slowly drifted away from the idea of pursuing a creative career and before I knew it, I had my heart set on becoming a doctor. Thinking back, I can't really remember what set off this change in career paths. I was still extremely passionate about art but for the some reason, I didn't think becoming an artist was a realistic job prospect to have. Math and science weren't  - and still aren't -  my strongest subjects yet with a career in medicine in mind, I persisted through and through. The fact that I didn't enjoy either of these subjects should of indicated to me that my true career lied elsewhere. This, and the fact that whenever I tried to imagine my doctor self, I really struggled to conjure up that image. I began to realise that if I couldn't even visualise myself as a doctor, there was no way that I wanted the job enough nor would be willing to do everything it took to fulfil the role. I didn't try to make myself like the idea of becoming a doctor. That was where I drew the line. If the burning desire wasn't then I there was nothing else I could do for it.

As a kid,  being an artist was the only creative job I thought existed. At 5 years old, graphic designers, animators, illustrators and bloggers were completely unheard of. Nowadays, these are the careers I care more than anything about. One of my favourite sayings is, "Do what you you love and the rest will follow." For me, I really enjoy being creative, thinking outside the box and working with my hands. These are what make me most happy and I will remember these three things as the boxes I need ticked off when looking into potential job/occupations. Essentially, I've become my younger self again. I know what I like, my hobbies and my interests and I trust in these to help me find the career of my dreams.

I hope you enjoyed this post! Let me know what you think in the comments!

Today's post is all about blog props! I love blog photography and one of my favourite parts of posting a new blog post every week, is putting together a nice set up for the photo. There's nothing more satisfying than creating the perfect layout or finding just the right combination of objects.

Backgrounds: Use These as a Base
Patterned Paper
For a glossy effect, find paper with gold foil or holographic accents.
Chopping Boards
You'll find there are some really nice marble and wooden chopping boards out there.
Fluffy Blankets
These give off a nice textural effect but aren't too distracting to the eye.
Pretty Plates
They make a nice central prop for the rest of your objects.
Magazines
You can lay different objects across the page or use cutouts to make collages.
Confetti
For a background that really pops, scatter a layer of confetti.

Props: Use These as Your Primary Props
Artificial Flowers
You can put them in a nice vase or lay them bunched together in the corner.
Notebooks
Use notebooks with eye catching covers or inspirational quotes on the front.
Laptop
